We pop out on a drizzly Saturday lunchtime to see LNER A4 pacific 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ and LMS Stanier Black 5 44871 both arriving in York within an hour of each other and both on a ‘Christmas White Rose’ charter to the recently opened Christmas Market in York City centre. Both worked up the East Coast Main Line (ECML); ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ from Peterborough & the Black 5 from London Kings Cross; the latter not taking its planned off-ECML excursion to Gainsborough and continued to plough on from Newark through Retford to Doncaster (as 48 late at Newark presumably for water). Did not expect the Hitachi bi-mode Nova1 EMU to pass; with what, eighty years between it and the A4? Also featured is an InterCity 225 class 91 working as it would be rude not to; and a brace of class 66s on a Rail Head Treatment Train actually deploying its high pressure water jets as it could've equally been, maybe, a brace of tractors. We close with a random shot of HNRC Swietelsky liveried class 37 37419 (‘Agamemnon’ maybe?) on an light engine move to the RHTT depot in the former Thrall / BREL works. All filmed on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) south of York with an Insta360 in 4K and an Android phone. Thank you for watching. (c) BrumberHill 2025.
