This video is about our visit to the ruins of Ram chauntra Mandir located in Kot Islam near sarae siddhu, Tehsil abdul hakim, district Khanewal. Originally it used to be part of Multan State when temples are constructed. This is a very interesting place indeed. It has very interesting stories both according to Hindu and Muslim mythologies. As per Hindu literature this place exists in time of Ramayan. After the Vanavas (14year exile) of lord Ram, Sita & Lakshman came to Ayodhya the capital of Avadhi Kingdom. Then after they did Ashvamedha Yaga (became an Emperor of whole of the Bharat including Afghanistan to Vietnam ) then after they wanted to visit Shakti Peet ( pilgrimage) they came to bank of river Ravi to pay a respect/pooja , in that time Sita Mata taken rest at where today's Sita temple is constructed, Ram & Lakshman both swam towards river and Sita Mata was not able see them, in that time Sita Mata prayed to river Ravi to show her husband Ram, River Ravi accepted her request and stretched its flow in wide and start flowing slowly, so Sita Mata could see Ram from where she sat..! In that time lord Ram reached another shore of the river where he uses to sit for Aannika (pay respect /arghya to sun god) this place is today's Ram chountra, another shore is called Lakshman Chountra. During pre islamic time, large number of hindus use to visit there places to pay respect to Lord Ram & River Ravi, then after many thousands of years after Ramayan, these places became a pilgrimage of "Shahi snan ghat" where hindus take holy bath and worship River and God. Every year in the month of 'Magha' as per Hindu lunar calendar, Magha Shahi snan or Kumbha Mela was performed in this ghat/ river bank. That's why, the Ghat ( bathing place) is made on the two side of the river. And near to riverbank choutra was built for to stay and worship. The particularly Chountra means chatra, chatra means free rest house for philigrimge or travellers. There must be a guest house for travelers who want to visit their relatives & traders who came from faraway place to sale their commodities in these locality, they stay there for night and next morning starts their journey. While according to Muslim theory the river was made straight here by king Humayun either on request of people due to problems in cultivation due to zigzag overflowing of river. One other theory is that the prince Darashikoh threw the Mughal crown here and King Alamgir dug this whole area of river to look for that crown and due to that digging the river became straight. #indianinpakistan #migration #temple #shriram #ram #lakshman #sitaram #sita #ramchauntra #lakshman #lakshmanchauntra #kabirwala #kotislam #templesinpakistan #Mandir #heritage
