TIMECODES Boot-Up 00:00 Beginner: 00:17 Beginner Extra: 02:57 Advanced: 04:40 Advanced Extra: 13:27 Expert: 16:45 Expert Extra: 40:21 Master: 44:14 Credits Game: 53:56 It has been done! I finally managed to record a superior playthrough of Super Monkey Ball. It is in widescreen with better encodes and more exciting strats than before! This wholly and utterly obsoletes the hallmark effort I recorded back in 2011 (Video here: • Видео ). I'm happy for the positive feedback it received, but it badly needed a modern Hauppauge makeover. Aside from a couple of stupid falls (and being utterly raped on Master 5), this is my best and possibly ultimate effort at playing this game. If I could only crack Master 5 reliably (my main strat is going forward until 58.50, then holding up-left and hoping to get pinched toward the goal), I'd have a chance at a no-Continue run. Once again, I opted to pursue the no-Warps approach, since I've had Comments in the past lamenting the levels that were skipped in the past (such as Expert 43). Maybe I'll do something like this again, but with Warps, for a decent attempt at a speedrun. FAQ (Frequently Anticipated Questions) Q1: Why was this made? Your other ones have thousands of views! A1: The old run looks like shit. Seriously. The recordings I have done since early 2013 actually fill the screen and have superior bitrates and encoding. Also, I used a few new and exciting strats to keep the gameplay fresh, even early on (e.g. Advanced 2). Q2: Why didn't you use warps? A2: I realized that some people wanted to see the skipped levels, so I made videos from the Practice mode of the other levels. But that's not very professional. I might as well have played every level, and I've done so here. Q3: Why did you use Baby? A3: I find his smaller frame a lot easier to guide around thin platforms. Maybe it's mind over matter. His cries also incite me to get the monkey back on track. Q4: Aw man, you lost lives (carelessly)! Could you try this again? A4: NOOOOOOO!! At least not for a while. Everybody makes mistakes, and I'm not risking however many dozens of hours to get this shit even more right. In order for a new run to be even better, I'd have to go flawless up through Master and then use a semi-consistent method for the inanity that is Master 5. That level is my worst level. Q5: Dude, that was hardcore on Expert 9. Why did you risk that? A5: I was thinking that same thing myself. But then I realized: 70 Bananas! Unlike Beginner and Advanced, in Expert, bananas are your best buddies. That's why I was able to get to Master 5 on my first Continue instead of Master 3. Hell, I might have been able to make it to Master 9. Q6: Why did you play the credits game at the end? A6: For the LULZ. I wanted to try a zigzag strategy that might get more bananas, but it needs to be refined, since I hit quite a few letters. Q7: Will you do Super Monkey Ball 2 next? A7: It's been done!
