Just want to quickly thank the awesome sports in this video who took their hits and the folks down at Maddog Airsoft (High Harthay Shooting Ground) who allowed me to use such an unusual piece of equipment. Finally, after months of work and lockdown, I took my #airsoft claymore trip mine out to #maddogairsoft in Brampton and despite using a homemade detonator, it fired both times it was tripped! One time taking out 2 enemy players behind a vital position. The airsoft #claymore became a big threat on the field once the enemy blue team became aware of it, slowing down their advance and even outright denying access to vital areas in the AO. It worked exactly how an airsoft landmine should, cause confusion, spread doubt and deny areas and routes. 1st Clip: The game was Flag Assault and us reds were defending. Me and my dad set up the claymore on a path located on the far side of the site which was around 200 yards from the enemy deployment. The blues were a little cheeky and were peeking around the end of the ridge, watching us set up the land mine before the game started. This, however, meant they knew that running down the path towards the quarry would be suicidal and instead walked across the top of the ridge, skylining themselves which meant that there would be no stealthy flank. I was dead and watching from a distance when it was tripped, taking out a ghillied-up sniper who would've been dangerous if he managed to sneak into our AO. The guy behind narrowly avoided the blast, if he was walking a little quicker it would've been a double. The sniper seems to think that I triggered it whilst I was dead but they eventually noticed the tripwire laying on the floor. Both guys were great sports. 2nd Clip: The "SWAT" van in Scrapyard is a vital piece of cover (in fact the last piece of solid cover before the cannon) which can be used by a whole squad for a final push on the cannon at the far end of the AO, I decided to rig the tripwire in a way that someone running into the side of the van would detonate the airsoft claymore. I jammed the tripwire stake into a panel gap on the van and rigged the #claymore to fire at the centre of the van. The first guy BARELY stopped in time (he came within a few inches of the tripwire) and asked a marshal what it was (I have no problem with people trying to disarm the mine, but this was the first time anybody had seen this) and continued to fire on the defending team. The second enemy ran over and the mine detonated as I intended, taking out both players and slowing down the enemy advance, buying us defending reds more time. Again both players were great sports and the marshal had a good laugh too. Just to clear up any confusion, I used a tripwire to trigger the detonator on both occasions rather than the radio command-detonation override. I was dead on both occasions so it would've been against game rules for me to use the clacker myself (I completely forgot about the clacker too). Like I said the players in this video were great sports who set a good example of how airsoft players should be! Watch out blues, the claymore will return again! ■ LIKE this video?
