OCCUPY TILL I COME (LUKE 19:12-28; GAL. 6:7-9) Video link: • OCCUPY TILL I COME (PART 1) Introduction Luke 19:12-13 (NKJV): “12HE SAID THEREFORE, A CERTAIN NOBLEMAN WENT INTO A FAR COUNTRY TO RECEIVE FOR HIMSELF A KINGDOM, AND TO RETURN. 13AND HE CALLED HIS TEN SERVANTS, AND DELIVERED THEM TEN POUNDS, AND SAID UNTO THEM, OCCUPY TILL I COME”. Gal. 6:7 (NIV): "DO NOT BE DECEIVED: GOD CANNOT BE MOCKED. A MAN REAPS WHAT HE SOWS.” Body The business mindset we see today originates from THE ALMIGHTY GOD who desires profit in all HE does and gives to us. Brethren, we'll give account of everything we do. But before then, we must learn to be prudent with the gifts/talents our LORD JESUS CHRIST has given us. The clause “Occupy till I come” in Luke 19:13 as captured in seven different Bible translations is provided below: • KJV: ‘Occupy till I come’ • NKJV: ‘Do business till I come’ • CEV: ‘Use this money to earn more money until I get back’ • NIV: ‘Put this money to work’ • NLT: ‘Invest this for me while I am gone’ • ASV: ‘Trade ye herewith till I come’ Are you a leader or member of a department in the Church? Where are the profits from your assignment? Even in our secular work, the LORD wants us to bear fruits, i.e., have gains. From our first main text, we'll also see that it's not enough to bear fruits, but we must bear them optimally. From the first main text, the MASTER only gave additional money to the servant who has ten pounds (vs. 24). Luke 19:24 (NLT): ‘THEN, TURNING TO THE OTHERS STANDING NEARBY, THE KING ORDERED, ‘TAKE THE MONEY FROM THIS SERVANT, AND GIVE IT TO THE ONE WHO HAS TEN POUNDS.’ Hence, we must always remember that we’ll reap whatsoever we sow and never to get tired of doing what is good. Gal. 6:8-9 (NIV) says “8WHOEVER SOWS TO PLEASE THEIR FLESH, FROM THE FLESH WILL REAP DESTRUCTION; WHOEVER SOWS TO PLEASE THE SPIRIT, FROM THE SPIRIT WILL REAP ETERNAL LIFE. 9LET US NOT BECOME WEARY IN DOING GOOD, FOR AT THE PROPER TIME WE WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP.” The verse 9 in NLT (Chapter 6) is given as “SO LET’S NOT GET TIRED OF DOING WHAT IS GOOD. AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME WE WILL REAP A HARVEST OF BLESSING IF WE DON’T GIVE UP.” Conclusion Like the nobleman in the main text, our LORD JESUS CHRIST is coming back. What kind of report do you want to give HIM? Shalom! Prayer point Our DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER, please help us to be profitable servants in YOUR vineyard in JESUS' MIGHTY NAME, AMEN. Intercessory Prayer Pray for people of the other religion that they will come to the knowledge of the gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Bro.
