Part 1: • Guiding Denali with Alpine Ascents Part 1 ... Part 2: • Guiding Denali with Alpine Ascents Part 2 ... Part 3: • Guiding Denali with Alpine Ascents Part 3 ... On June 5, 2023, three Denali world records were broken on the biggest mountain in North America. The speed record by Jack Kuenzle, the most number of summits by Vern Tejas and you'll have to stay tuned to find out the third! We also filmed the highest music video in North America from the summit of Denali. This was most beautiful day I've experienced in the mountains and I was fortunate enough to document it all through this series. Special thanks to the crew at Alpine Ascents, Vern Tejas, Adam Frost and the amazing group of people we got to share this experience with. Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley, sits at 20,310 feet above sea level, making it the highest mountain in North America. Donald Trump recently renamed the peak Mount McKinley, a name originally coined by a gold prospector who named the peak after William McKinley of Ohio who was running for presidency at the time. McKinley had never visited Alaska or had any association with the mountain. Denali is an Athabascan word that means "the high one" or "the great one" and is what most Alaskan Natives and Mountain Guides still refer to the mountain as out of respect for the indigenous population. This documentary tells the story of our 22 day expedition to the summit of Denali, led by legendary mountain guide Vern Tejas. This will be Verns 62nd summit of Denali, a record number of summits for the mountain. Vern also accomplished the first solo winter ascent of the mountain starting in February of 1988. Vern attempted this feat shortly after Naomi Umeura, a Japanese mountaineering hero, was declared lost on Denali during his attempt at the first solo winter ascent of the mountain. Vern was also the first person to fly off the summit of Denali with his paraglider, after carrying it along with him on his winter solo, he stashed it at high camp and flew off the summit with the same glider two years later. These are only a few of Verns many of accomplishments in the mountains, making him one of the most experienced guides in the world. It was a great honor working alongside him and learning from his many years of wisdom spent in the mountains. At 70 years old, this may have been Verns last expedition on the mountain, which is why I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to document the story of this record breaking expedition on the crown jewel of the United States and North America. ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Please watch: "Speed Flying the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi Chamonix - 4K VLOG 234 " • This Sport is Banned from Ski Resorts in A... ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
