Kobo WiFi e-Reader Disassembly & Reassembly

Originally recorded January 14, 2016. I was given this Kobo Wifi as the previous owner did not use it. I wanted it because I knew it could display PDF files. Since I have downloaded every instruction booklet for every device and appliance in the house, this would be a great repository for them. Despite it's very slow processor, slow-to-respond page turning, and lackluster screen, it can do the job. So it worked great for a week, until one day I turned it on and got nothing. Hooked it up to the computer, it still saw all the files on it, but a short time later the USB auto-disconnected itself, and it was never recognized by the computer again. Fortunately, Kobo had designed this unit with a microSD card of 2GB installed in a socket on its board. If I had a working image from a working Kobo wifi, I could probably make it work again. After tons of research, I came across the mobileread.com forum where a nice user by the name of davidfor came to the rescue and pointed me where I could find the image needed. Using a freeware program from another site, I was able to reimage the microSD card and all is well.
