After the fall of Napoleon Bonaparte the Congress of Vienna created peace in Europe. During this period Britain was the uncontested hegemon in the world, with little contest from the other Great Powers. There was a great reduction in European Great Power conflicts, but the term really doesn't take the rest of the world into account, where wars were abound. It's an extremely Eurocentric term.
