The 'Healthy Landscapes: Managing Agricultural Landscapes in Socio-ecologically Sensitive Areas to Promote Food Security, Well-being and Ecosystem Health' project (or Healthy Landscapes project) targets the rehabilitation and sustainable management of the Tank Cascade System (TCS)- an ancient, man-made water management system unique to the dry zone of Sri Lanka- so that its many traditional, ecological, social, and economic functions are safeguarded for use by current and future generations of cascade landscape communities. The Global Environment Facility, the world’s largest public funder of international environmental projects, is supporting the Healthy Landscapes project led by Sri Lanka, through the Ministry of Environment of Sri Lanka as the Lead National Agency. The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is coordinating the project with implementation support from the United Nations Environment Programme.
