Inner Mecca Al Mughni (The Enricher)

As we journey through the Islamic Season of Ramadan we will take a month long pilgrimage (from eve of April 1 to May 1) to our inner "mecca" where we will reflect on the Beloved through prayer, dhikr (remembrance of God through the 99 names). Through this spiritual practice we can become even more intimate with the Beloved and fall even deeper and madly in love with the Divine! Each day I will post an inspiring thought from the Sufi tradition, and we will reflect on these characteristics of God and through these Divine attributes and qualities we can "know" our Beloved in a more intimate and stronger way. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, when Muslims do not eat between the rising and setting of the sun. During Ramadan, Muslims celebrate the fact that it was in this month that God first revealed the words of the Quran to Mohammed. I will be fasting in some way during this journey. This year fasting time. I would invite you to do the same. Introspection and spiritual purification of the heart are essential for those who seek to know the Divine, the Eternal Reality.
