Picked up an old 1965 vintage Ham Linear Amplifier. A Galaxy 2000+. It has 10 6hf5 sweep tubes all in parallel, all outputs. It does need 100-150 watts drive to drive those 10 to full output. In the video, I am only driving it with 100 peak, 75 average. Since this is a Ham amp, it does not have an automatic keying circuit. It has a phono jack on the back and needs a foot switch or some other type of external keying circuit to key it up. Also on this unit there is a problem with the standby/operate switch and someone has added the extra switch you see near the stock switches. Also note that this amp has been CB'erized (not by me, I try to keep them stock) The 15-80 meter bands and coils have been removed and this unit is 10/12 meters only. The big ugly 50 year old caps where removed and modern upgraded caps where installed. The 50 year old buzzing power relays to power the power supply where removed and modern 50 amp solid state relays (SSR's) where installed, tube pins and relay contacts where cleaned. Tubes where tested and average 105%. Slowly brought up with a variac and away it went. This amp can run on either 110 or 220 and in this vid it is running on 110. On 220 and with a little more drive, I would think it would do another 500 out compared to what it is doing now. BTW this was also done on a 6kw dummy load, with a perfect match, no false watts. The 2nd head unit for parts is all original with no mods that I know of. It has the full 10-80 meter complement, but is not as clean and it was working but something arced so I left it alone.
