Buying an AC? Don’t skip this video! The heat is crazy right now, so I decided to finally buy an AC for my home. But when I got to the store, I noticed something weird… There were two ACs — same brand, same tonnage, even the same model — One was 3-star rated and the other 5-star rated. But here’s the catch: The 5-star AC cost ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 more. Now I was confused — should I spend extra for energy savings or stick to the cheaper one? So I did a simple calculation — and you should too before buying! Here’s the breakdown: • A 1.5-ton 5-star AC (2023) consumes around 840 watts/hour • A 3-star AC consumes about 1100 watts/hour Let’s say you run your AC 8 hours/day = 240 hours/month • 5-star AC: 840 × 240 / 1000 = 201 units/month • 3-star AC: 1100 × 240 / 1000 = 264 units/month Difference = 63 units/month If your electricity rate is ₹8/unit, that’s around ₹500/month saved Which is ₹6,000/year — But since I use AC only for 3-4 months, and just 5-6 hours/day, I realized the savings weren’t worth the extra 15k for me — So I bought the 3-star AC.
