Using beats from @percussionkevin #midweekbreakbeat super cool stuff Using custom build precision bass with @Montysguitarsandpickups retro wind pickups and a standard p-bass wiring harness (250k CTS pots, 0.047uF orange drop cap) and la Bella 760M (52-110 gauge heavy flat wounds) I got a very flat tone. Rather than change strings I wanted to investigate if I could adjust for the very 'warm' tone with some easy fixes. Always same strings, setup etc. Cali76 compressor into Kemper with Ampeg b15 profile. 1. Standard - tone on 2. Standard - tone off 3. The Joe Dart - no tone control 4. Monty's - 0.022uF tone on (like Montys wiring harness) 5. Monty's - 0.022uF tone off (like Montys wiring harness) 6. Beef - 500k pot, 0.022uF tone on 7. Beef - 500k pot, 0.022uF tone off All in all I liked not having the tone pot. It might be psychological since I'm playing with the idea of adding a Joe dart style humbucker but the 500k pot worked well too. Currently I only have a 500k Alpha pot so that will swap out for a CTS to match with knobs and I'll try to find a nice 0.022uF paper in oil cap but for now I thought this might be educational.
