How To Get The Best Wisdom | Devotional | Proverbs

My son, do not lose sight of these — keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. — Proverbs 3:21-26 It's unsettling to a man's soul to do wrong and know it. This is mostly true for those who have some sensitivity to sin. To know that what they did was wrong disturbs them. The only thing worse would be to accept bad advice from someone hoping it was good advice and act on it, discovering it was the worst advice they could have taken. These moments affect a man at the deepest level. They can result in insecurity, missteps, fear, restlessness, and perpetual concern about getting caught. On the other hand, there is another man. He's not concerned about getting caught. His actions are tactful. He holds his head high. He lives in security. He doesn't trip up at every turn. Common fears don't concern him. And at night he sleeps without the need for medication or intoxication. Overall he is pretty satisfied. And why? This man knows where to get sound wisdom. So here are three questions for you today if you are a son, father, husband, or leader: Are you getting wisdom that produces the best result? Are you getting wisdom from the best people? Are you getting wisdom from the best source? If you want to live a guiltless life, one free of regret, then you must get the best wisdom. Wisdom that works. And you need to get it from the only book with any kind of real wisdom — the Bible. So maybe today it's time to turn off and tune out specific sources and particular people? If you feel like you are getting the wrong results, try better wisdom. And guess what, the Proverbs are full of it. ASK THIS: Reflect on the three questions above. DO THIS: Make one strategic change.
