#CrimeCamNow On December 31, 2022, Dunwoody police officers were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle reported by employees at a Chevron gas station in Dunwoody, Ga. Upon arrival, the officer observed a man changing a flat tire. Running the vehicle's tags revealed an outstanding warrant for the owner. When questioned, the man claimed he wasn't the owner, saying the car belonged to his father. He called his father to inform him about the warrant and mentioned that his sister was returning with a repaired tire. Officers asked the man for identification. Although he had no ID, he provided a name and date of birth, claiming to be a 20-year-old from Georgia. However, the officer found no matching record. The man explained that he had never been issued a driver's license or ID, which is why he wasn't in the system. When officers pressed for more information, his story began to unravel. The man suddenly claimed he was born in 1995 and was 25 years old. Realizing the inconsistency, he nervously backtracked, saying he had made a mistake because he was anxious. Now he claimed to have an ID from Tennessee but didn’t have it on him. As his story continued to shift, officers warned him that a fingerprint scanner would be used to confirm his identity. When asked about his age again, he now said he was 26. Suspecting deception, officers waited for the scanner. The fingerprint scan confirmed his real identity: he was a 20-year-old with probation violations and outstanding warrants. He was arrested on charges of providing false information to a police officer. Officers searched the vehicle but found nothing illegal. The man was allowed to make a phone call so someone could retrieve the car. He was then transported to the DeKalb County Jail for booking.
