Now airing on Starz is Blunt Talk, the new comedy series from Bored to Death creator/showrunner Jonathan Ames and executive producer Seth MacFarlane. The half-hour show stars Patrick Stewart as Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. The problem? Blunt is out of control. As Allison said in her positive review: Stewart careens through the series with a childlike, genteel mania, even as he snorts cocaine, shatters a man’s testicles, and demands to be spooned in his office. For some, the major appeal of Blunt Talk will be seeing such a venerable figure as Stewart engaging in sophomoric and reckless behaviors. But Stewart is at his most side-splitting when Blunt is simply being petulant. I got to see the first few episodes, and they made me laugh out loud a lot. Stewart is fantastic in the role and his supporting cast – played by Jacki Weaver, Dolly Wells, Timm Sharp, and Karan Soni – all have moments to shine. It’s definitely worth your time. At the NYC press day I landed a video interview with Adrian Scarborough and Jacki Weaver. They talked about memorable moments from filming, how Blunt isn’t a mean person and the characters are well rounded, reveal who learned what motorboarding is, play “Save or Kill”, and a lot more. Here’s what they had to say: Adrian Scarborough and Jacki Weaver: What has the process of making Blunt Talk been like for each of them? How Walter Blunt isn’t a mean person and the characters are all well rounded. Memorable moments from filming. They play “Save or Kill” Jacki Weaver talks about making Equals.
