One of the most successful lines of spray heads was introduced by Rain Bird in 1975 or 1976, the 1800. In its initial offering, it was a green bodied 2.5" pop up with nozzles providing 8 patterns and an adjustable radius maxing out at 15'. These were not the Matched Precipitation Rate nozzles of the next generation, and there was no co-molded wiper seal, but it was Rain Bird's first foray into a plastic spray head and the introduction of a product line that has lasted five decades. The sprinkler I'm showing in this video is new old stock and it and its nozzle came via my friend Brad, to whom I owe a big debt of gratitude for preserving this history.
