WANKU ALEIDA (italiano sotto) “…after the many before, and before those after…” Reiner Maria Rilke Wanku Aleida is a song that came to me while I was meditating on a cliff above the lake close to our home some years ago. A gust of wind, and it was there, all of it, the melody and the text. I ran home and kept repeating the song in my mind so that I would not forget it. I felt as if it was coming from far, as if it was a part of me even before it was there. Over the years it has developed into a complete song and we decided to make a music video out of it. The video was shot in our ancestral homelands, Tignale on lake Garda, birth town of Igino’s family, and Cané, high up in the Alps where my ancestors are from. This song is a tribute to them and to the generations to come. The text has no literal meaning but the song wants to express the fact that we are here as a result of a very long line of people who came before us, and it imagines those that will be after us. In history books it seems that the whole story of humankind is about won and lost battles, conquerors, reigns and power, but I always thought that the actual reason we all are here is because of love. Love is the tread that weaves the fabric we are made off. I walk on the earth they have walked on, feeling the connection to my roots. I look at the landscapes they have looked at. I imagine those who will look after it once we will be gone. I feel like a snowflake, that melts away and runs down with the river to the ocean of eternity.... Wanku Aleida! Corsi a casa continuando a cantarla, in modo da non dimenticarla. Mi sentivo come se provenisse da lontano, come se fosse parte di me, prima ancora che si manifestasse. Negli anni si è arricchita di dettagli e significati e abbiamo deciso di farne un video musicale. Il video è stato girato nelle nostre terre ancestrali: Tignale sul lago di Garda, città natale della famiglia di Igino e Cané sulle Alpi, da dove provengono i miei antenati. Questa canzone è un tributo a loro e alle generazioni a venire. Il testo non ha un significato letterale. Esso mi ha trasmesso il fatto che siamo qui come risultato di un lunghissimo susseguirsi di persone che ci hanno preceduto. Dai libri di storia pare che l’evoluzione dell'umanità riguardi conflitti e guerre, imperi e potere. Io invece ritengo che il vero motivo per cui siamo tutti qui è l’amore. E' l’amore l’interminabile filo che compone la trama di cui siamo fatti. Calpesto la terra su cui hanno camminato, cogliendo il legame con le mie radici. Osservo i paesaggi che hanno guardato. Immagino gli sguardi di coloro che verranno. Mi sento come un fiocco di neve, che si scioglie nel fiume e scorre verso l'oceano dell'eternità... Wanku Aleida!
