An informal performance of the famous erhu solo piece "Er Quan Ying Yue"《二泉映月》(The Moon Reflected in the Second Spring) by Hua Yanjun (华彦钧; b. August 18, 1893-d. December 4, 1950), better known by his nickname Abing (阿炳), played on a da chehu (大伬胡), also called diyin chehu (低音伬胡), from Putian (莆田市), eastern Fujian province (福建省), southeast China, which was, very unfortunately, filmed in "vertical video" format. The instrument's two strings are tuned to C and G, and the key is C diao. The performer is the Beijing-based erhu player Ms. Xu Ziling (徐子零, born c. 1987), who is originally from Wuchang (五常市), Harbin (哈尔滨市), Heilongjiang province (黑龙江省), Northeast China. The chehu (伬胡) is a rare and archaic form of huqin used in the Puxian shiyin bayue (莆仙十音八乐) ensemble tradition of Putian (莆田市), eastern Fujian province (福建省), southeast China, as well as in Puxian xi (莆仙戏), a genre of local opera (Chinese: difang xiqu, 地方戏曲) from Putian. Unlike the erhu, whose resonator is covered on the playing end with python skin, the chehu's resonator has a soundboard made from a thin piece of paulownia wood. The da chehu (大伬胡) or diyin chehu (低音伬胡) is a larger, deeper-sounding version of this instrument. Xu Ziling has devoted intensive study to the chehu and other huqins used in Puxian shiyin bayue and Puxian xi since approximately 2023. Probably filmed in Beijing, China, c. May 28, 2024, and uploaded to the "夏秋之" Douyin channel on May 28, 2024. "Second Spring" (Er Quan, 二泉, or, more properly, "The Second Spring Under Heaven," 天下第二泉) refers to a spring located at the foot of Mount Hui (惠山) in the western part of Abing's native city of Wuxi (无锡), in China's Jiangsu province, which has been hailed since the Tang Dynasty as the second best source of water with which to brew tea, and where Abing often used to perform this piece. 中国音乐学院二胡演奏家徐子零用莆田特色乐器大伬胡演奏《二泉映月》,有点别样的感觉。#非遗文化 #地方戏曲文化 #民族乐器 #民族特色民族文化 More information: https://www.douyin.com/video/73740506...
