If you have been an android user in the last 2-3 years, you must have definately heard of CyanogenMod. It was like the go to thing for android enthusiasts. But very recently, it isn't talked about that much, because it exists no more. CyanogenMod gave users the freedom and control over their device. CyanogenMod offered features and options that are not found in the official firmware distributed by mobile device vendors. The shuting down of CyanogenMod marked the end of an era. Lineage OS can be termed as a successor of the erstwhile CyanogeMod. It is made with the similar building blocks that made CyanogenMod a success. The core features and benefits of using this ROM remians the same and even the first version is called LineageOS 14.1 as a tribute to CyanogenMod.
