Moving on up to the first three months 1996 in Bendigo area rail action and a noticeable shift in the roster for the 9083/9084 Deniliquin rice trains with the split of V/Line Passenger and V/Line Freight resulting in the phasing out of N Classes in favour of X Classes and the domination of Roots-Blown traction. There's also a seven-car Sprinter lash-up, rail cleaners to help with getting the Sprinters to activate track circuits and Bendigo pilot Y157 on a trip train to Bridgewater.
