I highly recommend the Fredenstein Bento as a lunchbox power supply. Almost daily I get asked where to start and this would be my exact response. The Fredenstein Bento. Amazing price, amazing performance. I have 3 of them and not a single noise issue. I swear by them. They're like $100 more than the Midas and really do triumph over it all night and day. If you're still looking at buying the Midas L10, you can snag one here: https://amzn.to/46FQveY |I've owned a Midas L10 for two years before selling it. I figured i'd make a video kind of explaining the good and the bad with the unit and my personal experience. Hopefully this will shine some light on the product. 0:00 Intro: The Cheap Road To Analog Gear 1:33 The Question We All Want To Know!!! 1:47 The Short Answer 2:01 The Explanation In Depth Answer And My Experience 3:52 The Big Issue For Me 6:48 The Difference You Get From A Better Power Supply 7:30 My Thoughts On The Unit/Buying One? 9:45 Final Thoughts/Bottom Line The Midas: Midas L10: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/deta... The 500 Series Chassis I Recommend: Bento 8 Pure: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/deta... Here are a list of modules I've used within it, without issue: Neve 511, JDK V12, JDK V15, Fredenstein Artistic Mic Pre, Fredenstein Artistic Leveler, DBX 530, Lindell Audio PEX-500, Lindell Audio 7X-500, Joe Meek PreQ, Warm Audio WA12, Golden Age 573, Midas 522, Trident 80B, Louder Than Liftoff Chop Shop, Aphex J-Pre, Black Lion Audio B12A, Capi Audio V28, Capi Audio L25, Radial PhaseQ, Radial XTC. This is also a disclaimer, I want to throw out there. What is in this video is my experience. As this is a Midas (now owned by Behringer/Music Tribe), the quality control can vary extensively. I've bought things from Behringer that died literally a week after with light use and yet I still have pieces from 2012 that work incredible. I've bought things from Audient, Boss, Mackie, TC Electronic, Mosky and Digitech that have all died within a month. Any purchase of anything electronic made on a factory assembly line is always going to be a gamble. Some more than others. I've read several claims of people having noise issues. Where as I didn't on the majority of modules i've used. I've been told that even the cheaper Alctron/N-Sonic stuff causing hum with the Midas L6.
