One of the best Zermatt snow hikes is from Blauherd to Fluhalp. It has a fantastic Matterhorn view and is on a groomed trail (Nr. 110). First, I went to the summit of Rothorn via gondola and was amazed by the breathtaking view of the Matterhorn and the overlook of Zermatt Valley. Then, back down to Blauherd and a hike to Fluhalp Hut/Restaurant. Life is good, with a delicious slice of apricot pie and a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. Walking toward the Matterhorn along the return trail was the best part! I took a short detour to the frozen Stellisee, (the famous lake that reflects the Matterhorn during the summer months).
