Prof. Dr. John William McEvoy presents the current ESC Guidelines on Elevated Blood Pressure and Hypertension, which have been published 2024 in European Heart Journal with Prof. McEvoy as first author. Dr. McEvoy is Professor of Preventive Cardiology at NUI Galway and a Consultant Cardiologist at University Hospital Galway, Republic of Ireland. Prof. McEvoy also serves as Medical and Research Director of the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health (NIPC), and he holds Masters degrees in cardiovascular epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and in the education of health professionals from the Johns Hopkins School of Education. Prof. McEvoy’s research focuses on testing novel biomarkers of risk and clinical epidemiology, with an emphasis on hypertension and atherosclerosis. The interview was recorded on March 10th, 2025.
