A beautiful look at American Toads breeding in a local river with details about the mating process, and the development of their young. Anaxyrus americanus is a common toad found throughout most of Eastern North America. It used to be known by the scientific name Bufo americanus, but that was recently revised. The males travel to bodies of water in the early spring and begin singing to attract the females for breeding. The female toads join the males in the shallow water where they can lay up to 20,000 eggs in a single season, but most of their young do not survive. The ones that do survive can grow to a length of around 2 or 3 inches. =========================================================== Waterproof Camera used to film this video Fujifilm XP 140 Waterproof camera https://amzn.to/3jA9iFZ (paid link) As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
