Trail running To A Cabin On An Alpine Lake | Hometown Adventure Per your requests to make some content showing you around our small mountain town of Lincoln, NH in the White Mountain National Forest involving the things we do and places we go between the bigger adventures. Such as Morning Coffee and A Run on my local trails. I'm incredibly grateful to call this remote wilderness our home especially with things such as the Appalachian hut systems and endless trail options. It's what makes us wake up everyday with enthusiasm and a general love for life. Our town is considered the basecamp of the region nestled right in the national forest with hundreds of hiking, biking, and running trails right from town, including an ultra running bucket list run, known as the Pemi Loop. 32 miles and 10,000ft of rugged steep terrain in the most remote wilderness zone in the state. But...if you don't have the time there are so many incredible routes with just as much scenic awe in a fraction of the time. Today you and I go on one of my favorite little before work trail runs or day hikes in the White Mountains almost right out my our door. It's the route that is far better, more scenic, quieter, and a less touristed trail than the Lonesome Lake Trail which is always busy, loud noise from the highway, rather lacking in scenic photo opportunities and parking is a nightmare if you're coming on a weekend. Right from the get go, Cascade Brook Trail starts at the famous landmark known as The Basin. A natural whirlpool formed by thousands of years of glacial movement and the Pemigewasset River carving perfectly formed chutes and kettle holes into hard granite. We follow the trail along the cascade, say hello to Rocky Glen Falls, numerous cascade areas and something interesting to see at every step. We then continue up to the Lonesome Lake Hut built by the AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club) on none other than, Lonesome Lake. A crystal clear high alpine lake nestled into the side of Kinsman Ridge. You can hike or run to this hut and stay there over night. I highly recommend doing it btw. No morning is complete without a good coffee and some quiet time, listening to the birds and reflecting while sitting on my roof. It's an odd little habit but it's the best way I know, to start my day before A fun adventure. Thanks for being so supportive of the channel.
