I explain after the beginning why I did this comparison again. It turns out I had the 12XAX7 and 12AT7 tubes switched because whoever put in the point-to-point circuit board upgrade switched the tube sockets for some reason. Even the tube chart was not corrected. So, my original comparison a few months ago was not a good comparison of the two. I was having a few issues with the re-issue so I decided to trace the circuit board as compared to the original schematic and that is when I discovered the socket switch. I also found a resistor on the foot switch socket connected to the reverb pan output that I did not this was necessary, so I removed it. I think that fixed the issue I was having with the intermittent "tone" control. I think they both sound pretty good but it is still hard to duplicate the real vintage unit.
