The Women in Machine Learning & Data Science (WiMLDS) Meetup aims to inspire, educate, regardless of gender, and support women and gender minorities in the field. We are back for our 42nd edition, are you ready to get all the answers about data science? Following the National Assembly's decision to adopt algorithmic video surveillance at the 2024 Olympics, we are organising a "special" meetup entitled "Ethics, image and video surveillance". This talk reviews well-known AI discrimination cases and introduces AI Fairness concepts and notions. The following discussion examines the types of bias in the data contributing to discrimination and suggests strategies for overcoming or mitigating them.
