Probably the worst was I couldn't see 30 feet in front of my car trying to drive down highway 83. I couldn't see the road in front of me because of the shifting snow on the road, and it was totally white out. That was the first time I'd experienced that. I've been on site and it's been clear one second, and snow everywhere the next. Everything under negative 20 feels pretty much the same, the only variable is how hard the wind is blowing. We were sitting at the training building and the flight chief comes back in like 'hey guys, let's get out there,' and we're like it's cold still - but we got through it, and when it was over you could see icicles hanging off peoples' faces. And of course there's one flight chief out there with no jacket. With Minot Air Force Base it's also a positive because what enemy is going to want to come here to the frozen tundra? When you're doing the job and it's cold outside, you feel like a warrior getting the job done. The bottom line is that if we don't do the job, the planes don't fly. Anywhere we're needed, TRF can be there. No, we can't let our guard down because of the cold. We're out there all the time.
