Wrapping up 2018 with the final Australian Health Journal of the year, includes the following recent events: 1. The ARCS Australia conference held in August attracted a range of delegates from across the medical, technology and pharmaceutical (MTP) sectors. HealcThe conference is the premier event for those involved in research, development, access and effective utilisation of medicines and medical technologies. Sessions included relevance to those in industry, research institutions, government and academia involved in clinical research, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, medical affairs/MSLs, medical devices, health economics, and quality/GMP. 2. Novartis innovation through Augmented VR technology training the next generation of medical students using Inside MS. Augmented learning now has application seeing the changes in a patient's brain with Multiple Sclerosis through MRI data. Australian Health Journal met the people behind the augmented reality visor technology that will soon be used to teach trainee doctors the transitional phases of MS. 3. 2018 marks the 10 year anniversary of the TAVI device, short for the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation. The TAVI system enables the replacement of a diseased aortic valve without open-heart surgery or surgical removal of the native valve. This minimally invasive surgical option reduces operating time and allows for a shortened recovery period for patients. AHJ met with the cardiologist teams in Melbourne's Epworth and The Alfred Hospitals who have involved in implanting the device over the past 10 years. 4. In our regular Healthcare Professional piece we have an interview with Christine Zahren who has been involved with clinicial trails throughout her career and now has co-founded White Coats Foundation. #AustralianHealthJournal Produced by Know My Health (c) 2018 Know My Group
