In November 2025, 22-year-old Nia Mkhonde went out with friends in Maboneng Precinct, Johannesburg. The night began at Rich Diamond Lounge, where Nia stepped outside to speak with two men. Shortly afterwards, they left for another location nearby — the 12 Decades Art Hotel. Later that night, they were reportedly seen at The Living Room — a popular rooftop venue in Maboneng. It would be the last time Nia was seen alive. Her body was discovered at The Living Room on 6 November 2025, but her family says they only located her at the mortuary three months later in February 2026. Nia was laid to rest on 28 February 2026. Despite reports that the vehicle of the man last seen arriving with her was identified, no arrests have been made months later. This case has raised serious questions about the investigation at Jeppe Police Station. Community members and family supporters, including Eldorado Park councillor Kaldine Juwairiya, have since stepped in to help the family seek answers and push for progress in the case. According to the family, key evidence may have been overlooked at the crime scene, including: Nia’s shoe left behind Her smashed phone Her bag and bank card Private investigators were eventually brought in, and the case has now reportedly been reclassified and is being investigated as a murder. But the biggest question remains: What really happened to Nia Mkhonde that night in Maboneng? 💬 Share your thoughts respectfully in the comments. #NiaMkhonde #JusticeForNia #SouthAfricaCrime #TrueCrimeSouthAfrica #JohannesburgCrime #Maboneng #CrimeStories #TrueCrimeCommunity #CrimeNewsSA #JusticeForVictims
