Welcome to Sac City, Iowa, a classic Midwest small town with some truly unique history — including the largest popcorn ball in the world 🍿! In this episode of Midwest Small Town, we explore what makes Sac City special. We visit the famous popcorn ball on display, step inside a local museum, and walk through a detailed model pioneer town that brings early Iowa history to life. You’ll also see the historic railroad depot, downtown murals, and important community landmarks. We spend time along the Raccoon River at Chautauqua Park, home to the only complete Chautauqua Building in the state of Iowa, originally constructed in 1908. While there, we also visit the first log cabin built in the area (1854), preserved within the park. Additional stops include: Freedom Rock Veteran Park Civil War Memorial Downtown Sac City murals Sac City is a great example of how small towns preserve history, honor community, and celebrate what makes them unique.
