This may be one of the BEST sounding Martin D35-S that I have ever heard. It a 1971 #300578. Indian rosewood with the famous 3 panel back with the slotted head stock joined at the 12th fret. There are good sound Martins, great sounding Martins and some that just have magic. I believe this to be one of those that jumps off the wall when you go by strumming guitars to see which ones you want to play. It is not mint as far as cosmetics. The tuners have been replaced, minor crack professionally secured by the pickguard and a nick in the neck that is not noticeable when you play. The was also an area of guitar pick rash above the pickguard that was very professionally covered and blended with the top. That being said, what is mint as vintage goes is the SOUND. It is loud but in a warm balanced way. Not too bassy as some D35’s can be. The low strings when new ring almost like a piano string and the sustain is loooooooong. This guitar is for the player, whether finger picking or strumming who wants that TONE. It is definitely a 1 in a 100 player. The action and the tone come together in just the perfect way.
