Wild Maine Adventures is a backpacking and outdoor leadership program for Maine teenagers. This was our second trip hiking the Appalachian Trail in the Saddleback region. Trip leaders were Charlotte Clews and Jerome Lawther, with special thanks to resupply coordinator Clarissa Thompson. [This trip was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, all of these kids share households and/or were fully quarantined in small rural, COVID-free communities together. We minimized the possible risk of exposure to each other and others by wearing masks and keeping lots of personal space when we encountered other hikers, but when just with each other, we did not wear masks. We were a self-sufficient unit and had minimum contact with the communities we traveled through. We are committed to keeping ourselves and our communities safe.]
