Romans 9:6–13 confronts one of the most challenging truths in Scripture: God’s sovereign choice in salvation. In this message, we walk carefully through Paul’s argument to show that God’s Word has not failed, even in the face of widespread Jewish unbelief. Paul demonstrates that God’s promises have always rested on His sovereign purpose, not on human lineage, effort, or decision. From Isaac over Ishmael to Jacob over Esau, Paul shows that God’s redemptive plan advances according to His will and promise. Before birth, before works, before belief or rejection, God had already spoken. This passage defends the immutability of God, the certainty of His promises, and the assurance believers have in salvation that rests entirely in His hands. At the same time, Scripture maintains the tension between God’s sovereignty and human responsibility. While God chooses, man is still called to respond. Salvation is not left to human whim or persuasion but to the faithful call of the Great Shepherd, who never loses one of His sheep. Hear the text, feel its weight, and find hope in a God whose plan cannot fail.
