Hunting using trained falcons, known as falconry, is an ancient art of hunting wild game with birds of prey, especially falcons. Falcons are prized for their speed, keen vision, and hunting skills. The peregrine falcon is one of the most popular birds used in falconry, capable of diving at speeds over 240 miles per hour to catch birds in flight. Other falcons commonly used include gyrfalcons, saker falcons, and merlins, each with different hunting styles and prey preferences. Training a falcon for hunting requires several months to over a year, involving building trust, imprinting, teaching hunting techniques, and responding to the falconer's commands. Basic techniques include manning (getting the bird used to humans), hooding (keeping it calm), luring (training it to return), and creance training (flying on a long line for safety). Hunters use equipment such as hoods, jesses (leashes), gloves, and sometimes telemetry devices for tracking. During a hunt, falconers release the bird to pursue prey like pigeons, pheasants, rabbits, or waterfowl. Falcons use techniques like stooping—diving steeply at prey to capture it—and waiting or soaring to spot game. After catching prey, the falconer calls the falcon back to the glove. In some cases, hunting dogs assist in flushing out quarry to be caught by the falcon. Becoming a falconer may require apprenticeship, licensing, and passing exams depending on local laws. Overall, falconry is a partnership of trust and skill between the falconer and their bird, blending natural instincts with training to hunt effectively in the wild. #falcon #falconry #birdsofprey #falconer #falconrylife #falconryequipment #birds #birdsofprey #falconryart #falconryexperience #falconryglove #falconryhood #falconryfestival #falconryindonesia #falconrycentre #falcߋntraining #falcߋn #birdofprey #bird #eagle #hunting
