90'S FPS GAMES (PC) 'My Favourite' first-person shooters

My favourite first person games on the PC from the 1990's, with commentary. This was the period when FPS games really came of age (in my opinion), moving from DOS and software rendering, to Windows and 3D accelerator cards such as 3DFX. It also saw mouse and keyboard controls become pretty much what they are today, and even the earlier games that hadn't quite nailed it at the time can now be played with modern control methods, along with widescreen/16:9 support and high resolutions. For Dark Forces 2 see this guide -    • Play Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II...   Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament Game of the Year, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Doom, Quake I & II can be bought on the usual online vendors, (no Half Life on GoG), but they can all be found secondhand easily enough too. Duke Nukem Megaton Edition seems hard to find now, so you'll have to search online for it.
