Farmer Tom Heroes of the Green with Sharon Letts Writer/Producer Montel Williams introduced Sharon Letts as one of the most prolific and informative writers in the cannabis industry, penning several ongoing series for many publications around the world in several languages, with a focus on cannabis as remedy. But she began her life's work at the age of 24, as a flower gardener (not cannabis) in Southern California, where she grew up. Gardening turned to television when she was asked to produce and host visiting gardening show, In and Out of the Garden, for local access, touring Southern California. Sharon self-cycled the series to air in four counties for three years (Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego). Sharon went on to Executive Produce Off the Beaten Path, a California travelog for PBS, touring California. After working as a Field and Segment producer for documentary and magazine shows in Los Angeles for national television (History Channel, et al), Sharon was brought up to Humboldt County in Northern California to produce a news show. This lead to the position of lead features writer at the county’s oldest newspaper, The Times-Standard, in the county seat of Eureka. While working in mainstream media, in what was perceived to be the cannabis capitol of the world, Sharon presented with breast cancer and was given cannabis oil by longtime farmer, remedy maker and Emerald Cup judge, Pearl Moon, of the Bud Sisters of Southern Humboldt; successfully putting the cancer into remission, while doing away with up to 10 prescription medications and supplements in less then three months. For the past ten years since, Sharon has written full time in the cannabis publishing space, with a focus on patient profiles, including celebrity interviews that Sharon often refers to as interventions. Sharon identified as a “stoner” for years, because that’s what they said she was - until she became educated. Now, she considers herself an Educated Stoner - one of her brands and book in progress. “Cannabis was my gateway drug to other healing plants,” she’s penned. “The word drug is from the Dutch word, “drog,” named after the wooden crates loaded onto wooden ships carrying plants for apothecary - the practice of making remedies with plants. Drugs have everything to do with plants. Plants have been my passion since I was a young gardener. Educating on healing plants has become my passion and life’s mission in leading humans back to the garden.
