How do you recreate the sound of a world that disappeared millions of years ago? For The Dinosaurs, our team set out to bring the ancient world back to life through sound. For over two years, we worked with Professor Mike Habib, exploring dinosaur anatomy, the physics of sound, and the closest living relatives of dinosaurs to imagine what these animals might really have sounded like. From experimenting with airflow through hollow bones in sauropods to crafting terrifying theropod calls from slowed-down bird recordings, the process blended scientific research with creative sound design. Working alongside the groundbreaking visual effects created by Industrial Light & Magic, the sound helped bring these ancient animals vividly to life. But the dinosaurs themselves were only part of the story. Some of the sounds heard in the series are the same ones dinosaurs would have experienced millions of years ago.
