Recorded on location in the streets and refugee camps. ~ ~ ~ The "pläne" label, was named after an anti-fascist newspaper of the "Bündische Jugend". The newspaper founded by Eberhard Koebel (tusk) in the early '30s was banned by the National Socialists, but revived in the '50s. In concordance to it's name, the label focused on political songs from the left. They had famous german musicians like Hannes Wader and "Zupfgeigenhansel" under contract and also published Vinyls by Víctor Jara, Inti-Illimani and Quilapayún after the coup in Chile. The label ceased operations in 2011. Mustafa al-Kurd (1945 – 2024) was a Palestinian musician, composer and renowed for founding the genre of political palestinian music. He also played traditional arabic Oud and european organ music, Sufi and byzantine chants and rythms aswell as palestinian folklore. As a young man he worked various jobs to support his family and teached himself to play the Oud. After the Six-Day War in 1967 and the subsequent occupation of Jerusalem he began to compose songs for the Palestinian struggle. He fled into exile after being arrested durign a theater performance of his in 1976. First in Lebanon, later in Germany he shared the palestinian narrative through his music. In 1985 he returned to his hometown Jerusalem, helping to establish the al-Hakawati Theater and passed on February 20, 2024. The recordings on this Album were made on location in concerts, on the streets and in refugee camps and are sometimes accompanied by PLO and DFLP song-groups.
