It was 1914 and the world was at war for the first time. Xenophobic sentiments in Canada meant that thousands of new immigrants from Germany, Austria, Ukraine, and Hungary were arrested and interred at camps across the country.. One such camp was set up at the heart of the clay belt in Northeastern Ontario, it's goal - to build a model community, and an experimental farm - which today, is Kapuskasing. The story of the camp, and the thousands of Ukrainian-Canadians who were interred there is an important story to remember. Filmed in Kapuskasing in accordance with all Ontario, and Porcupine Health Unit recommendations in October, 2020. Produced by : Gerrit Wesselink Filmed and Edited by : Jon Wesselink Black Lives Matter.
