In this special two part episode of True Criminals, we investigate the question at the centre of one of the most controversial true crime cases in modern Britain: is Lucy Letby innocent? The unit was operating under significant pressure, with documented staff shortages, infrastructure concerns and rising neonatal deaths. As baby collapses increased, suspicion began to focus on one nurse. Yet earlier reviews, including those by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, did not find evidence of deliberate harm. We break down how the police investigation developed, how expert medical evidence shaped the prosecution case, and how those conclusions were presented to a jury.
