Hello, Everyone ! Been a while since my last post but today is a historical day in Beatles history that I finally got around to re-making this classic that I recorded back in 2014 which was hampered by a separated shoulder I had at the time of recording and I knew I could do better. It just took me 11 years to do it ! Anyhow, today marks the 61st anniversary of The Beatles' 1st U.S. television appearance on the legendary "Ed Sullivan Show" (No... Not related) and this would be the 1st song they would perform, Paul McCartney's "All My Loving" ! I also can't help but look skyward and smile, as this was my Mom's favorite Beatles song and I think she guided my hands for this from up above (Thanks, Mom !) The backing had drums, bass, acoustic guitar and those wonderful triplet electric rhythm parts, so all I had to do was cover melody, harmony, an extra rhythm part and that classic country-flavored middle solo and here's how I did it : My Gibson Nighthawk Custom was the featured guitar for most of it, playing the stereo melodies and harmonies on the neck side's mini humbucker, tapped into single coil mode. The two bridge sections were played on the slanted bridge humbucker, also tapped into single coil mode. There's an additional "choppy" rhythm track blended into, just to add a few peaks to the rhythm. I was try to emulate the diverse tones of a Fender Telecaster and since I don't own one, that's the closest I could get to that sound. For the middle solo, there was really only one choice for me, "Little Red", my Gibson CS-356 semi-hollow model, as it had the perfect tone for that part. Here's the insane part : I double tracked it, playing two identical versions in the style of George Harrison's country-flavored solo on the original and then mixed them to the widest parts of the stereo picture (check it out with headphones !). This re-make is far and above my previous version from 11 years ago and I hope you all agree. Well, I hope you all enjoy this salute to The Beatles Ed Sullivan U.S. TV debut 61 years ago and as always, I wish you all the BEST, Dan. Except for the photos of me and my guitars, I claim no ownership of the music or media images displayed here. This video is for study, review and critical purposes only.
