One of the subtle forms of complex trauma some of us endure is having grown up with an anxious, fearful, or chronically worried parent. An anxious parent may have offered warnings of danger instead of excitement when you were invited to a friend's birthday party. Or, maybe they were glued to the news channels, always thinking catastrophically about the state of the world. Children learn to fear what their parents fear, and when a parent is dysregulated, they create dysregulated children.
