The home was eventually raided by police during a drug investigation, and after his arrest, the property was seized and left to rot. Years later, it was purchased for $3 million by a lawyer who intended to demolish it, but the plan never came to life. When I first explored it, the house still held traces of elegance—grand fireplaces, arched ceilings, and balconies that opened to the sea. But it was empty, weather-worn, and quietly decaying. Returning years later with friends, I found it vandalized and tagged with graffiti, its beauty nearly lost. Teenagers were inside smashing furniture as we watched the police show up again, a full circle moment that mirrored its troubled past. The second home was completely different, yet just as surreal. Tucked away in the woods, this overgrown mansion felt like something out of Jumanji. Nature had reclaimed every inch—vines crawling through the walls, wildlife echoing through the forest, and entire sections crumbling under the pressure. Despite its condition, the house carried warmth. I imagined the family that once lived there—bookshelves full, children playing near the private river dock, meals shared in a small kitchen now overrun by mold and decay. It was eerie but peaceful.
