After saying goodbye to our friends in Rapid City, we hit the open road toward Sioux Falls, making time for fuel and a little fun along the way. Our big stop of the day? Wall Drug, the iconic South Dakota destination that’s been drawing travelers since 1931. From its quirky billboards and legendary free ice water to its Western art, homemade donuts, and unique photo ops (hello, giant jackalope!), this place is a must-see when crossing through the Great Plains — and it’s even been featured in People Magazine. We also discover a surprisingly beautiful rest area with a stunning statue that proves even quick roadside stops can hold hidden gems worth exploring. By evening, we make our way to Cracker Barrel for dinner and settle in for the night, walking the pups in our cozy new “backyard” for the evening before calling it a day.
