Please be aware that this webinar was developed for our legacy systems. As a consequence, some parts of the webinar or its entirety may not be applicable to the national systems (Graham, Cedar, Beluga etc.). GNU Octave is a powerful tool for prototyping computational analyses, interacting with data and plotting visualizations. Octave is well know for its compatibility with Matlab at the command line, in which scripts and functions written in Matlab will often run without modifications in Octave. Until the recent release of Octave 4.0.0 there has not been a stable or default graphical user interface for this software. This video demonstrates the use of the Octave 4.0.0 GUI on a SHARCNet visualization system. "EEGLab" (Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience, University of California, San Diego) is used as a specific example of running Matlab developed GUI toolboxes in Octave. _______________________________________________ This video was recorded by James Desjardins (SHARCNET) on September 16, 2015 as a part of a series of "quick tips and features" demontrations relevant to researchers using the HPC resources at SHARCNet. SHARCNET is a consortium of 18 Canadian academic institutions who share a network of high performance computers (http://www.sharcnet.ca). SHARCNET is a part of Compute Ontario (http://computeontario.ca/) and Compute Canada (https://computecanada.ca).
