It has been recorded at a comfortable tempo of quarter note = 112, making it ideal for both practice and performance. It begins with a 2 bar introduction of E minor chords to give the soloist time to come in after starting the track and includes the repeat at measure 45. The score shown in the video is true to the edition found in Carey Cheney's Solos for Young Cellists, Volume 3. Romberg was a well respected German cellist and composer from the classical period. This work is a rite of passage for many young cellists and features shifting up to the halfway harmonic on the A string, as well as fast triplet passages, making it a great piece for the advancing intermediate cellist.
