The Third Revolution: The Archaeogenetecists David Reich and the retelling of the human story

In 2015 a group of Archeogenealogist led by Harvard geneticist David Reich uncovered the genome of 69 Europeans who lived between 8,000- 3000 years ago.  When the findings were sequenced something so unexpected and macabre was revealed about the Europeans’ origins that dozens of Reichs collaborators quit the project before the final paper could be published. Five years later Riech’s revolution in genetic mapping has put archaeologists at odds with geneticists fearing these findings will be used to embolden white nationalists and neo-nazis and ultimately usher in a new wave of the eugenics movement. Now as we stand at the precipice of the third revolution in science where the convergence of genetic information with biology and engineering has the potential to transform the future who gets to tell the story of our past becomes critically important.
