Driving in Austria - Seitling to Weißpriach, Biosphärenparks Salzburger Lungau, Wirpitschsee | 4k August 2022 Weißpriach, one of the loveliest side valleys of the Salzburg Lungau biosphere reserve, lies at about 1100 m above sea level south of the main ridge of the Schladming Alps, which in turn are part of the Niedere Tauern. The municipal area extends over approx. 80 km² and is rich in forests, alpine pastures and mountain lakes. Although Weißpriach is one of the largest municipalities in the Tamsweg district in terms of area, it is one of the smallest with just over 300 inhabitants. The creek "Longa" flows through the valley, which translates as "the crooked one". In the neighboring town of Mariapfarr, the Longa flows into the Taurach. Together with the Wirpitschsee, the Longa was voted the most beautiful place in Salzburg in the ORF television show "9 places 9 treasures".
